This is Mount Vernon Bach Mercedes model that was made in 1954 very early in the Mt Vernon production.   The Mercedes model had an interesting history.  More information about the Mercedes model has been compiled by my friend Roy Hempley and can be found at the Vincent Bach's World website under General Articles here.

While it may have been considered an "intermediate" model for much of its history, this is clearly a professional quality instrument with only a few less cosmetic features than the Stradivarius model

The Mercedes models made early in the Mount Vernon period had a typical medium bore size of .453 with a  38 bell and a 7 leadpipe.

This horn appears to be in all original condition, but missing lacquer being the only change from its original state.  It is currently raw brass.  Valve compression is good and all slides are smooth.

It is a very good playing horn if you are looking for something a little different and collectible.

Does not come with a case or mouthpiece.
