This is a  Bach Mercedes cornet that is in good condition.   The Mercedes model had several iterations over the years, but it was originally conceived by Vincent Bach as a less expensive, but yet comparable playing professional instrument to the Stradivarius line.  When this particular cornet was made, early in the Elkhart production, almost all of the parts are identical to those of a Stradivarius.  The only exceptions are that it has a water key on the third valve slide (rather than the dump slide); an adjustable, rather than fixed ring on the third valve slide; and no stop rod mechanism.  None of these impacts how well this cornet plays.  The valve components and slides are otherwise identical to a Strad of this era.  In addition to monel valve pistons, it has two piece valve casings, a feature that is no longer found on even the Stradivarius model.

It has some wear to the silver as shown in the photos and a few minor dings, but is in good overall cosmetic condition.

Valves are fast and compression is excellent.

Comes with a Bach 7C cornet mouthpiece and an older case shown a fair amount of external wear, but still functional.
