This is a 1930 Olds Military trumpet that has been restored and is in excellent condition.   The Military model was only made for a few years in the early to mid 1930's.   This one has a three digit serial number, so it is among the first 1,000 trumpets and cornets made by Olds.  By the time the company shut down in 1979, they had made more than a million.

More information about the rare Olds Military model can be found in the 1932 Olds Catalog posted at Olds Central 1932 Olds Catalog. It has the Hand Hammered bell which was standard on Olds Military trumpets.

The bore is size is not marked, so it is a medium bore, which was typical for horns of this era.   This trumpet was purchased from a collector who had it stored for many years.  The lacquer was mostly gone so we sent it to Charlie Melk to have it restored and the result is amazing.  The hand hammered bell really gleams. The valve compression is very good and all slides are smooth. This trumpet clean inside and out.  All slides are smooth.  Engraving is sharp and clear.

The last photo shows some of the parts stamped with the serial number.  The top and bottom caps (not shown) are stamped with the full number 929 (later Olds only had the last two digits on the bottom caps).  The spring barrels have 929 on the 2nd and 3rd valves, but on the 1st valve (shown in the photo) the serial number is either 626 or the "2" is upside down from the "9's".  All three pistons appear to the the same, so this odd stamping on the first valve piston could just be an error.  Also of note, all three of the valve stems are stamped 929, but there is clearly a "1" stamped under the "2".  With the exception of the nickel silver 3rd slide push rod, all parts appear to be original, including the stop rod on the 3rd valve slide and the quick-change to A on the tuning slide.  We can supply a brass push rod if that is preferred which would have been the original style.

Does not come with a case, but a gig bag will be provided.  As beautiful as this horn is, you will want to keep it out of the case to display it!
